I have been practicing yoga for 6+ years now and what a journey it has been. I started to practice yoga almost 10 years ago every now and then for some physical movement. It wasn’t until about 2013 that I really started to develop a passion for yoga. I remember going to the doctor for panic attacks and migraines and they prescribed me muscle relaxers instead of getting to the root cause of my then current state. That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I started practicing yoga more regularly, diving into yoga books and free YouTube videos. I developed a balanced home practice, never stepping foot into a yoga studio until 2018! Yes, 2018 was the first time I went into a yoga studio. I completed a Level 1 Trauma Informed Outreach Training led by Connection Coalition. This was set to pair well with my personal growth and my day job as a Program Coordinator at a nonprofit. That weekend sparked a big movement within me, the itch to practice more and to help others find their own healing became heavy in my heart.
Fall 2018, I was offered one of the most beautiful opportunities to attend my friend/yoga guides 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Shala in Dearborn, MI, I had ONE day to decide. After few months,many tears, love, sweat, 200+ hours, many books, and a huge transformation within myself later, I officially became a Registered Yoga Teacher. I have since completed a Yoga for Stress and Anxiety training with Yoga Journal and have attended many wonderful workshops with well-known and respected Yoga Guides. I am now teaching regularly at Lotus Wholistic Therapy in Trenton, MI where I am lucky enough to guide those in my own community and help them on their own wellness and healing journeys. My yoga path has just gotten started and I am so incredibly excited and honored to see where it takes me. And I hope to see you along the way.
